Cameron Mackintosh presents a brand new 25th anniversary production of Boublil & Schönberg's legendary musical, LES MISÉRABLES, with glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. This new production has already been acclaimed by critics, fans and new audiences has broken box office records across the UK. Cameron Mackintosh certainly enjoyed ‘Bringing her Home’ to play at the Barbican Theatre in London (where it originally premiered in 1985) as part of the show’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and on the 2nd and 3rd October 2010, for the first time anywhere in world, that three productions of the musical played in the same city, at The Queens, The Barbican and The O2. This exciting new production has new direction and spectacular new designs inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. The music is by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, adapted by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, with additional material by James Fenton. This new production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and designed by Matt Kinley. Original costumes by Andreane Neofitou, additional costumes by Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Mick Potter. In October this year, the legendary musical “LES MISÉRABLES” celebrated its 25th birthday by making theatrical history with an international first - three different productions in London at the same time. The Original Production at The Queen’s Theatre, the NEW 25th Anniversary Production at The Barbican, London and stars in their multitudes gathered for a celebratory concert at The O2 on Sunday 3rd October, when all three productions and many of the show’s original cast came together to celebrate this momentous occasion. The 25th Anniversary concert at The O2 hosted a company of over 300 actors and musicians, including Alfie Boe as ‘Jean Valjean’, Nick Jonas as ‘Marius’, Norm Lewis as ‘Javert’, Matt Lucas as ‘Thénardier’, Lea Salonga as ‘Fantine’, Jenny Galloway as ‘Madame Thénardier’, Katie Hall as ‘Cosette’ and the casts of the Original and Anniversary Productions along with members of the Original 1985 London cast.
